Padua
It is a vivid city full of art and culture. Here you can find the Basilika of St.Anthony, patron of the town, and the Chapel of Scrovegni, where you can admire the paintings made by Giotto.
This chapel was dedicated to “Santa Maria della Carità”, and built between 1303 and 1306. Arrigo degli Scrovegni commissioned the construction of this building, for the use of his family and the whole community.
Padua is also well known as the city of the museums. Here you can find the Archaeological Museum with ancient pre-Roman and Roman finds, and the Museum of Modern and Medieval Art, where it is possible to see the paintings by Tintoretto and Tiepolo, and the famous cross by Giotto.
A very important building is surely the Palace of Reason, called also “salon” by his inhabitants. It takes its name from the fact that the upper floor is made by one single huge hall. The palace looks on Piazza delle Erbe e della Frutta, seat of a vivid daily market.
Near Padua, on the Euganean hills, it is worth to visit Petrarca’s House in Arquà.
